“You are what you share” – CHARLES LEADBEATER

Welcome to the age of Micro Influencers.

Gone are the days when influencer strategy was a number game, today it is about the qualitative effect that influencers create with the help of social media. Not only do they give brands the benefit of authenticity, a unique point of view, deeper storytelling, they also give brands the potential of reaching a more tailored audience.

This is what the world’s most influential blogs are doing right.

90% of the best blogs roll out a blog every week. Find your niche, stick to that. Consistency not only helps you build your audience but also increases referral traffic to your site thereby increasing subscribers, sales opportunities, better revenue potential and an increased ROI.

The way you write for a gossip magazine may be different than the way you may have to write for a tech blog. The best bloggers in the world understand their target audience really well, have analysed the user persona of their audience and then carefully draft content accordingly. The language, the tone and the way they communicate is kept in mind while drafting the blog. Also, being able to connect personally and creating a friendly and warm experience makes for a great experience.

The best blogs  know how to add value to the readers. Be it giving out tips, tutorials or simply a report on trends. If a reader feels he gets to take something back home from what he’s read, he’s coming back for more.

There’s no point rolling out a good blog if people aren’t aware it exists. Hitting the publish button may be the very step to the routine. Here are a few simple ways you can promote your blog,

  • Social Media sharing – Give your blog an interesting title and share it on social media to create curiosity and get users to land on your site.
  • Build an audience – ask for their email id’s when they land on your site, the more, the merrier.
  • Speak – Attend events, establish thought leadership, and brand yourself in order to attract quality readers to your site.
  • Interact – Read the comments users leave on your blogs, be open to criticism and appreciative of the praises and take out time to respond to queries.

Let the search bots find you and show your content to users searching for it. Get your keywords right and relevant, use correct title, include your keyword in your URL, title tags, alt tags, H1 tags and meta descriptions right. Should be enough to start with.

Some blogs have most of their popularity because of the images they produce. Carefully shot professional images that look clean, not very cluttered and have substance.

What makes some blogs stand out is that their blog is comprised of dozens of experts in fields. People automatically trust a blog, when it has facts from experts. As a result, their blog tends to be a reliable source of information and this, in turn, drives traffic.

Blogs that put forth information in the format of a story, i.e having a clear beginning, middle & end tend to be very successful. Each story could contain a mini quote that would get the reader hooked on immediately.

The latest trend in blogging would be that it’s primarily run by the community. Community members own profiles and earn points through their contributions to the blog.

One of the recurrent traits in all of the best blogs is that they’re very well researched.  Before writing any post, it is extremely important to get the facts straight. Going through as many of the best articles on the subject as possible is a must, or else there are high chances of repetition unknowingly. Once the facts are clear, a different perspective on the subject can be put forth.

The best blogs generally have an overwhelming amount of information to share. But they make their blogs less intimidating by organising their content smartly. All that needs to be done, is outlining of the facts you want to exhibit. Then the organisation can take multiple forms, i.e. lists, tips, pointers, etc.

Cliffhangers leave a doubt in the readers’ minds. They fuel curiosity about what will be presented next. The best bloggers clearly see cliffhangers as being tailor-made for content marketing on the web. They suggest that a note about a related topic that will be covered shortly in the future, keeps the readers hooked on to the blog

Every blog post is created keeping in mind a certain purpose. It might be wrong to assume that readers can understand the obvious points. Hence, it’s important to mention the purpose of the particular post very clearly. Most of the best blogs in the world create a call to action statement/ situation i.e. asking readers to comment by answering a question, taking a poll, asking them to share the blogpost on social media, or asking them to sign up to your email list.

Happy Blogging!

  1. Amazing blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There
are so many options out there that I’m completely confused ..
    Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

    1. Hi Silvia, thank you. We suggest you start with a free blog, there are many options out there and WordPress would be ideal to begin with. Its simple to use and later on depending on how much you want to customise, you could switch to a paid version. Hoping this answer helps.
